PROJECT Z Server Hosting for 7 Days to Die

PROJECT Z is a server-side overhaul for 7 Days to Die: armor sets with set bonuses, radiation, elite zombies, bosses, mastery skills and a 78-slot backpack. Because everything it changes lives on the server, the people you play with connect with the unmodded game: no launcher, no mod download, nothing to keep in sync on their side.

Why host PROJECT Z with us

  • One-click build: pick PROJECT Z 3.2.1 in the panel and the server reinstalls on the PROJECT Z build. There is nothing to upload and no file layout to get wrong.
  • The game build it needs: PROJECT Z 3.2.1 is built for game V3.2. Since V3.3.0 became Steam's default on 5 October 2026, your players pick v3.2.0 under Steam > Properties > Betas so their game matches the server; the mod itself still needs no download.
  • Sized for what it adds: idle, a PROJECT Z server uses about as much memory as plain 3.2 in our measurement (2.29 GB against 2.15 GB, booting in 47 seconds against 39). The cost arrives in play, from elite zombies, bosses and roughly 900 buffs, which is why it starts on Plan L.
  • Backups and recovery: daily backups you can restore from the panel, and a snapshot before every version change.
  • Full control: live console, Telnet, the file manager and FTP on port 2121 when you want to adjust settings by hand.

What PROJECT Z adds

  • Armor sets with bonuses for wearing the full set.
  • Radiation as a hazard to plan around.
  • Elite zombies and bosses on top of the vanilla roster.
  • Mastery skills.
  • A 78-slot backpack.

Before you switch a server to PROJECT Z

  • Start a new world: PROJECT Z is best begun fresh rather than dropped into a long-running vanilla save.
  • Do not combine it with another overhaul. Vanilla Plus, for example, loses 12 of its patches when it sits next to PROJECT Z, so we offer the two as separate builds.
  • Anti-cheat and crossplay are off on the PROJECT Z build, so console players cannot join. Everyone plays on PC.

Setup in minutes

  1. Order Plan L or Plan XL.
  2. In the panel, open Server info, then Game version.
  3. Choose Change version, branch or modpack and pick PROJECT Z 3.2.1.
  4. The server reinstalls on the PROJECT Z build. Your players set Steam to v3.2.0 and join with the unmodded game.

Quick FAQ

Do players need to install PROJECT Z?

No. PROJECT Z runs on the server only, so players join with the normal game. Their game version still has to match the server, which means v3.2.0 in Steam's Betas tab now that Steam's default is 3.3.

Which plan do I need?

Plan L or Plan XL. The one-click PROJECT Z build is available on both; Plan XL adds room for more players and bigger worlds.

Does PROJECT Z work on 7 Days to Die 3.3?

Not as a general release yet. The build we host is PROJECT Z 3.2.1 for game V3.2, which is the version the author published for the stable game at the time.

Can console players join a PROJECT Z server?

No. Anti-cheat and crossplay are off on the PROJECT Z build, so it is PC only.

Can I add other mods to PROJECT Z?

Avoid adding another overhaul. Small server-side modlets can work, but test them on a copy first: PROJECT Z already changes armor, zombies, buffs and progression, and Vanilla Plus is a known conflict.
