Know Your World Structure

A 7 Days to Die world is split across two folders: GeneratedWorlds for the terrain and Saves/GameWorld/GameName for the actual progression. Uploading only one half is the number one reason new hosting customers boot into a void or brand-new map.

  • GeneratedWorlds/<WorldName>/ — contains biomes, dtm.raw, main.ttw, and prefabs/.
  • Saves/<WorldName>/<GameName>/ — contains Level.sdf, region files, and Players/.
  • Modded packs (Darkness Falls, Undead Legacy, War3zuk) also ship with Data/Prefabs/ — upload those when present.

Prepare the Save Locally

  1. On Windows press Win + R and paste %AppData%/7DaysToDie. On Linux browse to ~/.local/share/7DaysToDie.
  2. Zip the entire GeneratedWorlds/<WorldName> folder along with Saves/<WorldName>/<GameName>.
  3. If you're migrating an overhaul map, keep the prefabs intact—many customers lose POIs because they skipped this folder.

Upload with FTP

Use FileZilla or WinSCP; it stays connected even if the panel is offline.

  1. Connect to ftp://<server-ip>:2121 using the username/password shown on your subscription detail page.
  2. Upload GeneratedWorlds/<WorldName> into /Saves/GeneratedWorlds/.
  3. Upload Saves/<WorldName>/<GameName> into /Saves/ on the host. Preserve the double-folder layout.
  4. Send Data/Prefabs/ if your world relies on custom POIs. Missing prefabs are what cause “missing block entity” spam.

Update Panel Settings

Inside the Supercraft control panel, head to Manage → Game Settings and set:

  • GameWorld: exact name of the folder you uploaded under GeneratedWorlds.
  • GameName: the save folder under Saves/<WorldName>.

Restart the server. Within a minute, your friends will spawn into the imported map with their inventories intact.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Server generates a new map: typo in GameWorld or GameName — they must match the folder names exactly.
  • Players spawn in a black void: GeneratedWorlds folder missing or corrupt. Re-upload it before rebooting.
  • Prefab errors: you skipped Data/Prefabs/. Upload the folder and restart.
  • Queues never complete: gigantic uploads take time. Keep the FileZilla queue running until every file is green.
