Plan Before You Update
- Warn players and capture a manual backup of
Saves/. - Check modpack compatibility—many overhaul authors lag behind official releases by a week or more.
- Ensure everyone is ready to update their client via Steam so you avoid version mismatch disconnects.
Apply Updates via Panel or FTP
- Click the yellow Update via Steam button in the Supercraft panel to pull the latest dedicated server files.
- If you maintain custom files, back them up before Steam overwrites them.
- After the update, restart the server and check the console log for XML errors.
Rollback Strategy
If a patch breaks your world:
- Stop the server and restore yesterday’s
Saves/backup. - Use SteamCMD to install the previous branch (e.g.,
-beta alpha21.1). Contact support if you need credentials. - Keep the server offline until every player rolls back their client.
Special Notes for Modpacks
- Darkness Falls, Undead Legacy, and War3zuk often require fresh installers after each 7D2D patch.
- Never mix files from different versions—delete the old mod folder before uploading the new one.
- Use a staging subscription if you want to test updates without risking the live community.
