Before You Start

  • Always stop the server; writing during a restore corrupts Level.sav.
  • Confirm your backup contains Level.sav, LevelMeta.sav, and the Players/ folder.
  • Download the current save as a fallback before overwriting anything.

Restore via FTP

  1. Connect to FTP and browse to /Saves/<WorldName>/<GameName>/.
  2. Upload the backed-up Level.sav and LevelMeta.sav, overwriting the existing files.
  3. Replace the entire Players/ folder so inventories and claims match the restored snapshot.
  4. If the backup includes Region/ data, upload those chunks too.

Verify the Rollback

Restart the server once. Join in-game and confirm:

  • Players spawn at the expected base.
  • Base structures look correct (no “missing chunk” squares).
  • Console log shows region files loading without red exceptions.

Edge Cases

  • Restoring to a different plan: update GameWorld/GameName to point at the restored folder.
  • Overhaul saves: confirm the mod version matches the backup; DF saves fail if versions differ.
  • Players still stuck: delete the specific player’s entry inside Players/<SteamID> to force a respawn.
