Farm Life Mod

Farm Life Mod for 7 Days to Die

Farm Life is the agricultural overhaul for 7 Days to Die. Built and maintained by Sirillion, the mod transforms vanilla's thin farming mechanics into a real long-form agricultural progression — with livestock, deeper crops, food-processing chains, and a sustainable-farming endgame that doesn't depend on raiding traders for canned food. It's a friendly, less-punishing mod that fits cooperative groups looking to settle down rather than constantly fight.

Origins and design intent

Sirillion built Farm Life around a simple premise: 7 Days to Die's vanilla farming is functional but shallow. Real survival communities should be able to build sustainable farms that feed the group long-term, not just supplement looted cans of food. The result is a mod that shifts the survival arc — early game is still scavenge-and-survive, but mid-to-late game can lean into the farm-and-trade economy. Sirillion has kept it actively maintained and ported it to 1.0+/2.x stable.

Gameplay Features

  • Expanded crop variety — dozens of new crops with different growing seasons and yield curves

  • Livestock — chickens, pigs, cattle and other farm animals you can raise, breed, and harvest

  • Food processing chains — raw crops → milled flour → bread; raw meat → cured meat; full pipeline content

  • New farm-tier workstations — milling, butchering, dairy processing, food preservation

  • Crop rotation — yield bonuses for rotating fields, ties soil quality into the loop

  • Seasonal farming — temperature and weather affect what grows when

Survival realism

Farm Life is medium realism. It's not as punishing as Ravenhearst or Undead Legacy. The food economy is more involved than vanilla but not draconian — you still survive the early game on scavenged food, then transition into the farm-economy in the mid-game. It's friendly enough that mixed groups (some hardcore players, some casual) can play together without one side being miserable.

Quality-of-life enhancements

  • Cleaner crop tooltips with growing-time indicators

  • Better signposting for soil quality and crop rotation bonuses

  • Improved livestock-management UI

  • Recipe visibility for food-processing chains

  • Cleaner inventory organization for farm output

New challenges and enemies

Farm Life doesn't dramatically expand the enemy roster the way DF or Ravenhearst do. Vanilla zombies and bloodmoons are preserved. The mod's challenges are more economic:

  • Disease — livestock can get sick if you over-density your farms

  • Pest control — crops attract pests that need management

  • Wild predators — animal raids on your farm need defenses

  • Drought / cold snaps — weather events affect crops

Crafting and workstations

The crafting layer adds substantial farming-specific content:

  • Milling station — process grain into flour

  • Butchering station — process raw meat into cured/preserved

  • Dairy processing — milk into cheese, butter, etc.

  • Composting bin — soil quality management

  • Greenhouse — protected growing for off-season crops

These integrate with vanilla cooking; you don't have to abandon the vanilla recipe set to use Farm Life.
