Craftopia Roadmap: What’s Coming in 2025 and Beyond?

Okay, so we all know Craftopia is a bit of a wild ride. It’s this crazy mix of survival, crafting, and a whole lot of “what the heck is going on?” And yeah, it’s easy to get distracted by Pocketpair’s other big hit, but Craftopia is still chugging along with some big updates. So, what can we expect down the line, especially with 2025 just around the corner?

Recent Updates: Inferno Volcano and the Age of Gods

First, let’s catch up on what’s already happened. Last month, we got a pretty hefty update that included the Inferno Volcano biome. Seriously, they’re not kidding; it’s “way hotter than Unnefell Desert,” so get ready for some serious heat management.

But that’s not all. We also got a new Age of Gods to progress through, which comes with its own bunch of new items, crafting stations, and vehicles. Oh, and did I mention the Fish-shaped Missile? Yeah, that’s a thing now.

They also tweaked the fishing mechanics, upped the level cap to 70, and threw in a new Inferno Whale world boss. Plus, the usual round of bug fixes and balance adjustments, which is always welcome.

The 2024 Roadmap: A Look Back

Now, let’s talk about the roadmap. Remember back in 2023 when I thought we would get the Seamless Map? Yeah, me too. Didn’t happen. And we didn’t get it in 2023. Heck, we didn’t even get it on Xbox for Christmas!

So, for 2024, we have a new roadmap, and let’s be honest, it’s a mixed bag. Here’s the breakdown:

Sequential Updates

These are the things they’re working on right now, in no particular order:

  • Optimizations: Singleplayer and multiplayer performance are getting some love.
  • Bug Fixes: Can’t complain about this one.
  • New Ages: Yes, more Ages of Gods are coming.
  • New Vehicles: Get ready for new ways to travel by land, air, and sea.
  • Requested Items: Things like new breeders and warp portals.
  • New Skills: More ways to customize your character.
  • New Biomes: Desert, poisonous swamp, volcano…and more!
  • New Enemy Types: New baddies to beat up.
  • Minecarts: Because why not?
  • Balance Adjustments: Tweaks for shields and attacks, ensuring combat feels right.
  • Gun Enhancement: Pew pew gets an upgrade!
  • Magic Adjustments: More power, better effects.
  • Pipeline Improvements: Making those pipes even more useful.
  • Mini-Map and Map Improvements: Finally, a better way to navigate!
  • Pet Speed Improvement: Faster pets mean faster travel!

Medium Term Development

This is where things start to get a little more interesting:

  • Dedicated Server Implementation: Yes! This is a big one for the multiplayer fans.
  • Vehicle Customization: Pimp your ride!
  • World Heritage Sites Overhaul: Time for some updated landmarks.
  • Attributes System: More depth to character progression.
  • Special Item Trees: New ways to specialize your crafting.
  • Toolbar Sets: Finally, a more organized inventory.
  • Balance Adjustments: More tweaks to skills and shields.
  • Improved Alchemy System: Time to whip up some new concoctions.
  • Bedrock Improvements: Build even more freely.
  • Improved Item Collection UI: Easier to pick up all that loot.
  • Crafting Search Function: Save time and frustration!

Long Term Development

And then there’s the long-term stuff…

  • Seamless World Release on Xbox: This got moved to Long Term, so who knows when this will happen. This feels like a big disappointment to me.
  • End-Game Crafting Content: More things to craft once you’ve hit the top.
  • Crafting Rod: More crafting options.
  • Raid System: Big fights with big rewards.
  • Improvements to Farming: Making your virtual garden even better.
  • Improved Picture Book: A better way to track your progress.
  • Weapon Adjustments: Balancing out the weapons.
  • Enchantment Adjustments: Better enchantments and more drops.
  • Enchantment UI Improvements: A better interface for enchanting.
  • Improvements to Controller Operation: Because controllers need love too.

What does this mean for 2025?

Honestly, it’s hard to say exactly what’s coming in 2025. The roadmap is a bit vague on timelines, and “Long Term” could mean anything. The move of the seamless world on Xbox to long-term development is a bit of a bummer. I had hoped it would have happened by now.

But, here’s what I’m taking away from this roadmap:

  • More Content: Pocketpair is still actively developing Craftopia, with new biomes, enemies, and items.
  • Improvements: The game is also being polished up with tweaks to balance, UI, and gameplay.
  • Long-Term Vision: There’s a long list of things planned, which means there’s more to look forward to.

Stay Tuned

Craftopia is still a work in progress. It’s a game that seems to be constantly changing and evolving. I am always looking forward to more. If you want to keep up with the latest Craftopia news and more of my thoughts on the game, follow our socials.

Just a week into the game, and here I am, thoroughly engrossed in 7 Days to Die A21. It’s amazing how it’s slipped under my radar for so long, especially considering my hefty hours logged in Minecraft, Valheim, and Fallout 4. This game hits that sweet spot of base-building and mob fighting that I’ve come to appreciate. Here are some thoughts I’ve gathered in my first week.
